The certification of Sanitary Metals in Brazil is voluntary and regulated by Inmetro.
Sanitary Metals are certified by product family and the certification model adopted can be 4, 5 or 7.
Product family? What does it mean?
The certification of Sanitary Metals is done as follows:
Siphon: Siphons that have the same construction material (determined by the body of the product), the same dimension as the inlet connection, the same configuration and that belong to the same production process and the same factory;
Stop Valve: Records that present the same construction material (determined by the product body), the same configuration (pressure or drawer), the same sealing mechanism (for pressure registration), the same nominal diameter, the same configuration and that belong to the same production process and the same factory;
Faucet: Taps with the same configuration (garden, table, wall, tank, washbasin or sink), same construction material (determined by the body of the product), same size of the inlet connection, same sealing mechanism (compressible or non-compressible) same installation configuration (vertical inlet or horizontal inlet) and that are produced in the same factory;
Mixer: Hydraulic mixers with the same construction material (determined by the body of the product), the same sealing mechanism (compressible or non-compressible), the same nominal diameter, the same configuration (washbasin or kitchen sink or wall-mounted kitchen sink) and that belong to the same factory.
And what are the certification models?
It is the model that defines how the conformity assessment system of the company and its products will be carried out.
Model 4 (exclusive for Micro and Small Business): Type test followed by verification by testing samples taken from the market and the manufacturer;
Model 5: includes the evaluation and approval of the Quality Management System and the Customer Service Systematic of the supplier through audits and tests on samples that can be collected both at the factory and in the trade.
Model 7: batch certification, which is evaluated through product tests and evaluation of the Customer Service System. This modality is more common for imported products.
