Automotive Wheels certification in Brazil is mandatory (mandatory) and regulated by Inmetro.Automotive Wheels are certified by product family and the certification model adopted is 5.

Product family? What does it mean?

Family of disc wheels and collapsible rims for trucks, buses and others:
Disc Wheels: It consists of the rim size (nominal diameter and width), fixation system (diameter of the circle of holes for fixing in the case of disc wheels), in addition to the angle of the tapered seat of the tire;
Removable rims: It consists of the rim size (nominal diameter and width), in addition to the angle of the tapered seat of the tire.

Family of Steel wheel  for automobiles, mixed-use vehicles or loads derived therefrom, mixed-use vans and their trailers:

It consists of the rim size (nominal diameter and width) and the location where the joint weld between the rim and the disk is located. Example of parts of the rim where this connection can occur: recess of the rim, tapered seat, flange.

Family of aluminum alloy wheels for automobiles, light commercials and sport utility vehicles:

Constituted by the dimension of the rim (nominal diameter and width), maximum and minimum condition of the fixing system (diameter of the circle of holes for fixing) and production process, being this classified by low pressure casting or by mechanical conformation.

But what about the certification model 5?
It includes the evaluation and approval of the Quality Management System and the Customer Service System of the supplier through audits and tests on samples that can be collected both in the factory and in the store.
